Pope Baseball Academy is uniquely set up to help kids identify, reach for, and satisfy their individual potential. Like playing on the monkey bars, we start with the easiest bar to reach. Once comfortable, students move to the next bar, which might require getting up on their toes. With practice and confidence, they'll progress higher and higher, until the momentum is all their own.Learning baseball is accomplished in a similar way. Kids that attend PBA will play the game in the way they feel most comfortable. After gaining confidence, they'll move to the next level and soon exceed their own expectations. Once they've mastered the learned skills, kids desire and strive to achieve the next level of play or challenge. This is where you'll see the most dramatic improvement in how the kids play and enjoy "America's Favorite Pastime". Everyone learns and improves at different rates, and PBA is designed to support students at every level. Celebrate The Individual! Every player, young or old, brings a certain style or flair to the game. We don't want to stifle that. In fact, we want to encourage and celebrate it. Kids are attracted to the style and flair that they see on the basketball court and on the football field, so what's wrong with seeing it on the baseball diamond as well? As long as they're following certain fundamental approaches, we want our players to perform within their own comfort zones and, over time, learn to step out of them.
Make It Fun! Baseball is a game. We should never lose sight of that. Whether we're dealing with 6 to 14 year olds or even 22 year olds, baseball should be fun. When it ceases to be fun, the sport loses participants. Games, by their nature, are fun. But, believe it or not, by simply turning simple drills into contests or using creative teaching methods (so that kids aren't aware that they're learning), we can make practices even more fun than the games. That's when we begin developing baseball players and fans for life. Pope Baseball Academy can make playing baseball more fun and more rewarding for both children and their families.
